Episode 9 – Marta Benicsek’s story: How she blends together her passions in her own brand
/Her story sounds like magic. By simple coincidence Tulum found her, where she now lives the tropical life of her dreams since already three years. A serendipity moment in her hometown of Budapest, Hungary pathed her way to her first trip to Tulum: In 2012, a stranger invited her to a concert of a Mexican band, that told her about this place. Already during her first visit to the Mexican Caribbean, Marta knew that she will be back – but never thinking that a perfume bottle in a shop in Berlin could be her return ticket...Find out how she encountered her passion for essential scents and how destiny led her to Tulum in this episode.
The interior designer created her own brand Wanderblend as a creative laboratory for all her ideas and interests. Under her label she creates natural perfumes, artisan fashion pieces, experiences and architectural spaces. Her brand was brought to life by her personal desire to apply everything she’d experienced over her journey and her traveling. Now, living in the Yucatán peninsula she manufactures her conceptual scents with the philosophy less is more. "You know,“ she explains in the interview, "Tulum is a heaven on earth, so you don’t need anything else. Just come here and connect and find the places that allow you to travel through your senses.“
Wanderblend’s subtle, yet well considered formulas are perfect to wear in a jungly environment or on travels, because they sharpen the senses to guide wanderers towards their destination. Marta’s motivation is to teach people how to smell again – to connect with the real, unpolluted scents and to enhance their own smell with authentic notes. Her essential perfumes are hand-made in extremely small batches by using old perfume making techniques and pure botanical ingredients.
Because Marta soon realized that she doesn’t want to limit her creativity to just one thing, Wanderblend is about so much more than just her exclusive perfume line. Equally well-considered and timeless are her artisanal fashion pieces. Her simple and-oh-so versatile designs go in harmony with any style, environment or mood.
